Poor adhesion in Ham Street !!

An update for you this morning.

Richard was up early this morning for the first Rye Shuttle but it didn’t turn up. Meanwhile the following information was posted on Southern’s news page
http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/

“Line problem at Ham Street.
Train services between Hastings and Ashford International are being disrupted due to poor rail conditions at Ham Street.Short notice alterations and delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected.”

I checked this out with Southern who say this is rail-speak meaning there is poor adhesion – ie conditions liable to cause wheel slippage. It is generally weather related, usually, cold damp conditions that may require greater breaking distances. So the train goes slower and the Rye Shuttle is cancelled.

Regards,

Stuart
